The last numbers of the false currency in EURO have just been published by the BCE

To the first semester 2006, 300.000 forgeries banknotes in euros have been seized by the police of states member for a value of 15.555.000 euros

Since its launching in 2002 the number of forgery seized is 2.182.118 banknotes for an amount of 117.224.000 euros.

The BCE and the national central banks relativize and minimize this state of fact, while noting that the number of forgery seized stabilizes and that compared to the 10,4 billions of banknotes in circulation in the union in 2006 these numbers must incite us to be confident.

We are not this opinion:

The 2.182.118 forgeries banknotes don't represent the false euros in circulation. To have an order of idea on the false currency in circulation, a coefficient of 2,5 is generally applied to the number of seize them.

Skeptics will retort «yes but in relation to the 10,4 billions of true banknotes……»

And well exactly, if you make the ratio, statistically a tradesman or a cashier who manipulate 1900 banknotes have all odds that one of these banknotes is false.

This risk increases again and it is multiplied by 4, if this tradesman or this cashier œuvre in a big city, a shopping center or a tourist center, either a risk of 1 forgery banknote for 475 true.

It is necessary to also know that 475 banknotes it is the number of banknotes that passes between a cashier's hands in a small trade of proximity in less than one week.
